Compare municipal finances with official data

Fiscal strength alone does not define quality of life. Still, debt service burden, spending discipline, and reserve cushions are useful clues about a municipality’s future room to maneuver.

What you can do on this page

Miraino Map shows a 0–100 finance-area score for municipalities nationwide, plus indicators rewritten in plain language on each profile. The intended flow is to open places from the map and compare where their numbers sit relative to others.

What “finance” means on Miraino Map

Profiles describe indicators in everyday terms—such as the annual weight of debt repayment, how tightly money is used, and rainy-day reserves per resident—based on official statistics. Individual values are measurements; area scores are relative guides informed by the national distribution.

Under each indicator name you will also find the official label and source, so you can check meaning when something stands out.

Browsing finance patterns on the map

Map colors center on the overall score. They do not judge finance alone. Avoid over-reading the colors as fiscal quality; open municipalities you care about and look at the finance area and individual indicators.

Checking numbers in a municipality profile

Profiles summarize strengths and watch-outs, area scores, and key numeric points. For finance, combining single-year spikes with similar municipalities and year-to-year change (where available) reduces bias.

Relation to the overall score

Overall scores and ratings are reference composites that weigh future risks such as finance and population. They are not raw official statistics. A strong finance score can still sit beside very different population, infrastructure, or healthcare pictures.

Caveats when comparing

Data vintages lag. Accounting rules and local circumstances can make simple comparisons hard. One standout indicator is not the whole story. Policy choices, disasters, and business cycles are outside these numbers.

Prefer opening profiles to read strengths and watch-outs over treating the site as a win–lose ranking.

Where to go next

From the map home, use filters or municipality name search to open profiles and check finance indicators. If relocation or population outlook also matters, see the related guides.
